Global VLBI solution 2004a

February 2004

Presented here is the Geographical Survey Institute's 2004a global solution. The Batch SOLVE solution used all available multi-baseline VLBI observations at 8.4 GHz (X-band) and 2.2 GHz (S-band) from 11 April, 1980 through 15 January, 2004. This included a total of 3732 diurnal sessions and 4,005,284 measurements of group delay. The BATCH control file gsi2004a.cnt along with databases given in gsi2004a.arc were used to generate this solution. The output spool file is gsi2004a.spl.gz. Single combined least square solution was done.

Source positions

Positions of 615 sources were estimated as global parameters. The sources that A) were observed in two or more sessions and had 40 or more good observations or B) were observed only in one session and had 25 or more good observations were included in the group of sources whose positions were estimated as global parameters. Position of all other sources were estimated in each session individually.

Earth orientation parameters

Pole coordinates X, Y, UT1 angle, and their rate, daily correction to the nutation in longitude and nutation in obliquity were estimated for each session separately.
