The Tsukuba VLBI Correlator has been operated as an IVS* correlator since its opening. It had originally introduced a tape-based
correlation system named K4 and performed correlation processes, bandwidth
syntheses, and primary analyses for the data obtained from Japanese VLBI
observations, and the world ones such as UT-1 observations between TSUKUBA-WETTZELL
and SYOWA sessions at the Syowa Station in Antarctica.
In 2004, the Correlator began to prepare for the replacement of its system to the next generation one--the K5 correlation system--and is now operating this new one with the ongoing enhancement of its functions.
